Sweet Silence
If there is no passion in your life, then have you really lived?
Hello! I'm Laura, a twenty-two year old living in the Seattle area. I recently quit my job working for Alaska Airlines, but it was one of the best decisions I could have made. I work part-time for a children's clothing store and on and off part-time/full time for another company in Seattle. I also attend school full-time where I am majoring either in Spanish and photography. Technically, I should already have graduated, but I'm taking my time in order to figure out what I really want to do.
I have a lot of passions and interests. I'm a very creative person and enjoy photography, writing, playing the piano, and painting. I'm also a huge baseball fan and root for the Seattle Mariners and the Baltimore Orioles. I'm not very good at playing sports, however. I do enjoy swimming though.
Some of the other things I enjoy: Traveling, Spanish language, interior design, camping, road trips, working with children, movies, music, the internet, and baking.
The most important part of my life is of course my family, my friends, and my boyfriend. My family consists of seven siblings including my twin brother, who is two minutes older than me. My boyfriend and I also have a goddaughter, Sunshyne Castilla, who is almost two years old and whom we love very much. I also have two nieces and a nephew who I absolutely love to spoil when I can. I have a very large family. I have my mom's side, my dad's side, and my step-dad's side. Holidays are big events. :]
My friends are very special to me as well. I have a few very close friends whom I have known since high school. We have gone on many road trips together, and recently I took them all to Las Vegas with my passes from the airline. Our next trip is starting in California, to Reno, Utah, Arizona and the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas again, and ending in California.
My best friend is my boyfriend, Oscar. We have been together about three and a half years. I love him because he brings out the best in me. He is weirder than me, which is hard to be. (Trust me.) His sense of humor is also exactly like mine, which is perfect. Of course, we fight like every couple, but in the end I know he is the one for me and I am very much in love. Luckily, we have had many opportunities to travel together. So far, the trips we have been on together have been Las Vegas, Miami, New York City, Cancun, California, Oregon, and Peru.
What are some of my aspirations in life? Well if you couldn't already tell, I love to travel. There are so many places left to see. I would love to visit Costa Rica, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Brazil, Japan, Spain, Australia, and many more places. One of my goals is to live abroad for at least a year and I would also like to try backpacking in another country. I love learning about other cultures and I find languages fascinating as well.
There are many career paths I am interested in as well, which is why I haven't yet settled on a major entirely (I say Spanish and photography, but I'm still not 100% certain). My dream job, for a long time, was to work for National Geographic. It is still something I would be interested in doing. However, one of my biggest dreams in life is to be a mother, and I know traveling all the time for my job would be difficult on my children. The other career paths I would consider: freelance photography, elementary school teacher, working for a non-profit organization such as World Vision, interior designer, web designer (have to take classes for that one..), or full-time mom. I think it would also be fun to run a business, and since Oscar is a business man, I believe we could do that.
Other random things about me: I am a pretty religious person, although I remain very open-minded and do not judge. I believe in the traditional heaven and hell, and in Jesus. God is my father and my friend and a big part of my life... I am a twin. My brother is two minutes older than me and is a Marine... I live on the beach and I love it. I love the water and can sit by it for hours just listening to the waves and thinking about things... I'm addicted to the internet and TV, unfortunately! My guilty pleasure is Legend of the Seeker and the Sword of Truth books by Terry Goodkind, which have been the only books I have ever been a fan of... I want a golden retriever someday. The end.
Overall, I am generally an optimistic person who is just trying to live live the best I can. :]
